As the owner of Shine On Brightly, the online gallery for artist-made memorials, I hear this sentiment from my clients everyday. Gone are the days of cookie cutter memorials, or any end of life ritual. As a babyboomer who has had 3 profound losses since 2009 (my husband, sister-in-law, and mother), I can personally attest to this fact. Each memorial service was completely unique to that person, honoring each one in an environment that spoke about each one’s respective spirit and personality.

Thanks Vaughn!

Not only are they unique but they also help the living remember and work through their grief in the early stages. Thanks for sharing these amazing ideas. Hopefully some people will take these ideas and expand on them; use them for their own as they look for some way to move away from the traditional funeral.
