It helped a lot when you stated that cremation not only offers more competitive pricing but also allows for less restrictive ceremonies that modern people may not like because I know someone who tries his best not to convenience anyone so having a quicker and simpler service like cremation would be his ideal choice. If ever we need to start planning for memorial services for a lost one, I’ll be sure to take your article into account and consider cremation services.

Your examples of green burial, hospice and childbirth are indeed situation where the “consumer”, represented by the Boomers have changed or found or developed new solutions in spite of the tradtional offerings.  It is clear that change will be necessary for funeral service to effectively meet the needs of the new consumer.

I am sure funeral directors/owners are tired of hearing the pundits and so called experts (myself included) telling them they must change. I have been talking about Boomers and their impact for since the early 90s. So why haven’t we as an industry been more responsive? And What should we change? And perhaps more importantly what should we change to? Check back here periodically because I intend to share my views on these very important “rubber meets the road” topics!

Thanks again and keep talking about the opportunities that are out there for us to get better!
